All About The Money?

One of the most common questions we receive these days goes something like, “So how much money have you raised?”

This is a very important question because we are required to raise 100% of the budgeted $60,000 before we can leave.  So let me answer that question up front.  So far (July 9th) we have around $15,000 in our accounts with SIM (that is a combination of pledges and one time donations).  We also have about $5,000 in promised money (ie. people who have told us they plan to give, but haven’t officially done so yet).  So we have raised about 33% or one third of our goal.  We have never raised that much money in our lives… we give God all the praise!

As important as the money is, we have a bigger priority as part of our preparations to go.  That is the power of Prayer.  We need to bath this experience in prayer.  While we covet your regular prayers for our family, we are asking for some to join us in a more intentional way.

“Please help us by praying for us. Then many people will give thanks for the blessings we receive in answer to all these prayers.” ~ 2 Corinthians 1:11 (CEV)

The next thirty days are going to be challenging as we continue to raise funds, prepare our house for our time away, attend orientation, finalize our medical, visa and travel details… and this doesn’t include the regular day to day work that comes with a family of 6!  As confident as we are about our call from God to go, we are equally confident in our ‘inability’ to accomplish this without God and His people praying for us.

“Those persons who know the deep peace of God, the unfathomable peace that passeth all understanding, are always men and women of much prayer.”~ R. A. Torrey

Can you make a commitment over the next thirty days to pray for us each day?  If so, please send me a personal email (rod_vis@hotmail.com and put 30 days” in the subject) and we will attempt to send out a daily “Request of the Day” to help provide some focus.  Thank you in advance for supporting us in this way!

“pray continually” ~ Thessalonians 5:17 (NIV)
